Bald is Beautiful! Gardening for Winter Interest

September 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Greg Paige

Winter can be a drab and lonely season in most gardens. This lecture will discuss how to get the most out of your garden in the winter, focusing on tough plants that provide multiple seasons of interest and a list of flavors-of-the-month that you’ve got to try. Expect a presentation chock full of ideas that will help your garden shine through every month of the year.

Greg Paige discovered his career goal early, creating and working in beautiful public gardens, and then sharing and teaching this passion to others. Prior to joining the JC Raulston Arboretum Greg worked at the Bartlett Tree Research Laboratory as Director of Horticulture and Arboretum Curator. His 30-year career in public horticulture involved work at some of the finest gardens in the country: Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in Belmont, North Carolina, the Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, the Holden Arboretum outside Cleveland, Ohio and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.

Program Meetings

Our monthly program meetings have something for everyone. During the last year we hosted programs by naturalists, wildlife artists and expert birders on a variety of topics from the birds of Hawaii, to ravens, wolves, and people, to the migration of red knots. Participating in a program meeting is a fun way to get involved with Lane County Audubon. Meetings are free and open to all.

We are currently meeting on Zoom and in-person as conditions allow on the 4th Tuesday of each month between September and May at 7:00 p.m.
