Willamette River Eugene

Our First Saturday Bird Walks, created in celebration of the Lane Audubon Inclusivity and Diversity Statement, are reserved for women, BIPOC, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Birders of all levels and backgrounds are welcome to join, particularly those who may have felt intimidated at the thought of birding alone or on other guided walks. Masks and distancing may still be required throughout walks, depending on evolving COVID-safety guidelines. Participation continues to be limited due to the ongoing pandemic, so please email Bex at fieldtrips@laneaudubon.org to sign up for any of these walks.

Directions:  From I-5 from the South: Take the 30th Avenue (LCC) exit and proceed straight at the stop sign.
From I-5 from the North: Take the 30th Avenue (LCC) exit, at the first stoplight, stay to the right, heading south on the road paralleling the freeway, approximately 3/4 mile to another stoplight. Turn left and cross over I-5. Turn left again at the stop sign.

Cross the bridge spanning the Coast Fork of the Willamette River, entering Howard Buford Recreation Area (Lane County Park). Turn left following signs for the North Bottomlands and proceed a 1/4 mile to a gravel parking area. The group will meet at this parking lot.  Important: All vehicles will need a Lane County Parking Pass. Daily passes are available online and from a machine near the Mount Pisgah Arboretum in the south end of the park.
