Tree Stewardship Work Party
April 30, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Come have fun and help your community on Saturday, April 30th alongside NCAP and Friends of Trees! You can be a tree steward by helping to remove competing vegetation, adding wood stakes to deter mowers and string trimmers, and mulching around young trees in the Whiteaker neighborhood in Eugene, near I-105 and the Owen Rose Garden. The exact location will be emailed to registered volunteers in advance. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers, herbicides won’t be applied in this area in order to keep down weeds and allow young trees to thrive!
Volunteers should wear long pants (to ankles, not mid-calf), and closed toed shoes or boots. Tools will be provided, but if you are able to, bring your own water bottle and pair of gloves. Extra gloves (including leather gloves for blackberry removal) will be available for use. All ages are welcome, no experience necessary.
Program Meetings
Our monthly program meetings have something for everyone. During the last year we hosted programs by naturalists, wildlife artists and expert birders on a variety of topics from the birds of Hawaii, to ravens, wolves, and people, to the migration of red knots. Participating in a program meeting is a fun way to get involved with Lane County Audubon. Meetings are free and open to all.
We are currently meeting on Zoom and in-person as conditions allow on the 4th Tuesday of each month between September and May at 7:00 p.m.
