Third Saturday Bird Walk – September 16, 8 a.m.

November 10 @ 8:44 pm

This Saturday’s Bird Walk will start at the Royal Avenue part of the Fern Ridge Wildlife Area. Local birder John Sullivan will be our leader. We will rendezvous at the parking lot at the end of Royal Avenue about 8:30. Because it is the beginning of goose hunting season we will assess our options to 1) bird along the road while avoiding walking along the dikes or 2) to move the walk to another location.

Those wishing to carpool should meet at the usual South Eugene High School parking lot at 8 o’clock.
A state parking permit (available where fishing/hunting licenses are sold or online at ODFW) is required to park in the lot at the end of Royal but there is often unregulated parking along Royal Avenue. It is not a good idea to leave items of value in vehicles at either location.

Birders of all levels are welcome and we will have a few pair of binoculars to loan. A $3 donation per person is suggested to help support Land County Audubon’s education and outreach programs.

For more information contact Jim Maloney at 541-345-6867.

Program Meetings

Our monthly program meetings have something for everyone. During the last year we hosted programs by naturalists, wildlife artists and expert birders on a variety of topics from the birds of Hawaii, to ravens, wolves, and people, to the migration of red knots. Participating in a program meeting is a fun way to get involved with Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance. Meetings are free and open to all.

We are currently meeting on Zoom and in-person as conditions allow on the 4th Tuesday of each month between September and May at 7:00 p.m.
