The Modern Bird World-Living for the City

December 13, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Michael Murphy PSU

On December 13, Professor Michael Murphy of Portland State University will share early findings of studies examining the population biology of the forest birds living in the extensive Forest Park system of Portland. This program is jointly sponsored by Lane County Audubon Society and the Eugene Natural History Society.

Michael says, “I am currently initiating new studies to examine the population biology of forest birds living within the extensive forest park system of Portland, Oregon. This work is just beginning and will address questions ranging from the impact of domestic cats on avian nest success, to the influence of landscape structure on the dispersal dynamics and persistence of populations in isolated fragments of urban forest.”

FMI: Eugene Natural History Society

This Dec program will be live at 7:00 pm in 221 Allen Hall, University of Oregon campus.

Program Meetings

Our monthly program meetings have something for everyone. During the last year we hosted programs by naturalists, wildlife artists and expert birders on a variety of topics from the birds of Hawaii, to ravens, wolves, and people, to the migration of red knots. Participating in a program meeting is a fun way to get involved with Lane County Audubon. Meetings are free and open to all.

We are currently meeting on Zoom and in-person as conditions allow on the 4th Tuesday of each month between September and May at 7:00 p.m.
