Florence Christmas Bird Count on Saturday 12/18/21
December 18 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
This year, the Florence CBC will be held on Saturday, December 18th. The Florence CBC has had a long history as a significant count area. The count circle includes both inland and coastal areas, covering very diverse habitats which attract and support correspondingly wide ranging species of birds. Since the individual areas are covered by teams, participants with a range of birding experience can all be valuable contributors. Many eyes see more birds! Please help spread the word and ask anyone else who might be interested to contact me.
After I gather a list of interested participants, I’ll send an email to that list describing in detail the way our count will need to be designed this year, in consideration of necessary COVID safety precautions. At that point, people can decide if participating in the Count would work for them.
If you are interested and would like more information (a firm commitment at this point is not necessary) please contact Ellen Cantor at email@example.com
Our monthly program meetings have something for everyone. During the last year we hosted programs by naturalists, wildlife artists and expert birders on a variety of topics from the birds of Hawaii, to ravens, wolves, and people, to the migration of red knots. Participating in a program meeting is a fun way to get involved with Lane County Audubon. Meetings are free and open to all.
We are currently meeting on Zoom on the 4th Tuesday of each month between September and May at 7:00 p.m. We’re looking forward to hosting in-person events as conditions allow.
