Birding Borikén: Around Puerto Rico (SWOC)
May 17, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Gerry Meenaghan will give a presentation entitled “Birding Borikén: Around Puerto Rico in Seven Days” for the May meeting of Southern Willamette Ornithological Club (SWOC). Gerry will detail his one-week solo birding journey around the island of Puerto Rico in December, 2021. In addition to viewing wildlife photos and hearing entertaining stories, attendees will learn a bit about the geography and history of the US’ largest territory, and gain inspiration on how to travel and bird a new and exotic location without a guide.
The meeting is at the Alluvium, 810 W 3rd Ave, on the corner of Monroe and W 3rd Ave, Eugene. All are welcome to this free event, but donations to help pay the rent are encouraged.
SWOC’s June meeting is TBA. FMI: Contact ellencantor@gmail.com.
Program Meetings
Our monthly program meetings have something for everyone. During the last year we hosted programs by naturalists, wildlife artists and expert birders on a variety of topics from the birds of Hawaii, to ravens, wolves, and people, to the migration of red knots. Participating in a program meeting is a fun way to get involved with Lane County Audubon. Meetings are free and open to all.
We are currently meeting on Zoom and in-person as conditions allow on the 4th Tuesday of each month between September and May at 7:00 p.m.
